The spectacular fluvial cliffs of the Arribes zamoranos, offer an infinite number of hiking routes to explore and awaken the senses. However, it is often difficult for the public to visit, discover and know everything that these places hide.
For this reason, we propose the following natural experience, in which we will know not only natural aspects of the area (flora and fauna) but also the geological aspects and traditions about the places where the activity takes place. We will be able to enjoy the spectacular canyons formed by the Duero and Esla rivers, home to numerous species of rock-dwelling birds such as the Griffon Vulture, the Egyptian Vulture, the Peregrine Falcon, the Golden Eagle or the scarce Bonelli´s Eagle. It should also be noted that although it is not a strictly rupicolous species, the Black Stork uses the fluvial cuttings to nest.

Next to these cuttings of undoubted beauty, there are very important spots of Mediterranean forest, with trees that already have a considerable size. So we can enjoy holm oaks and oak woods and small areas of cork oak and juniper. All of them under the fragrance of the labdanum, with which the different species of rock roses, perfume the environment.
This dense and diverse plant mass favors many species of birds, reptiles and mammals. we can highlight the Sapo runner, the Spur Sapo and the midwife toad, the Ocelado Lizard and the Escalera Culebra, and various species of warblers and forest raptors. Mammals include mustelids, such as the genet, the marten or the dormouse.
Finally, the riverside forests formed by elms, willows, poplars, ash and alder make the diversity and density of animal species even more, being places where we can observe birds as Golden oriole, the European turtle dove and Eurasian wryneck
[ngg src=”galleries” ids=”32″ display=”basic_thumbnail”]All this surrounded by reservoirs, seasonal banks and fields for the cultivation of cereal that considerably increase the diversity of ecosystems in the area.
The activity combines both areas visited by vehicle and areas on foot through small routes without difficulty, which aim to teach and observe the flora and fauna of these places so narrow and their environment. Finally, we will visit the waterfall and the viewpoints of Abelón.
